Tier 2 Network Operator
The Tier 2 Network Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the company’s network infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of network protocols, equipment, and carrier relationships. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with POTS systems, Cisco switches, and preferably Cisco Call Manager. This is an on-site position requiring daily presence.
Responsibilities
- Circuit Turn-up: Coordinate and execute the provisioning of new Ethernet circuits, ensuring timely and accurate implementation.
- Carrier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, holding them accountable for service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics.
- Network Maintenance: Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, procedures, and troubleshooting guides using tools like Visio.
- End-User Support: Provide technical support to end-users and branch personnel, resolving network-related issues and requests.
- System Administration: Manage and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Voice Support: Provide support for Cisco phones, including call forwarding, hunt groups, and voice account setups.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of network protocols, including BGP.
- In-depth knowledge of POTS systems and 66 or 110 blocks.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco switches.
- Experience with circuit turn-up and carrier management.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in network management tools, such as SolarWinds.
- Cisco Call Manager experience (preferred).
Additional Requirements
- On-site presence is mandatory.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call rotations.
