Position: Process Control Engineer Location: Houston, TX Type: Long-term contract
Company Overview: Our client is a leading manufacturing company based in Houston, specializing in the supply of chemical, fiber, and plastics products for various commercial and industrial applications. They are currently seeking an experienced Process Control Engineer to join their team at their downtown Houston office.
Job Description: This role presents exciting opportunities for technical growth and personal development. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication, analytical, and technical skills, along with problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in database software, computer systems, PLC programming, and experience with Data historian systems are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain process automation productivity improvements for extruder lines.
- Propose enhancements to existing control strategies.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing units to define appropriate control applications.
- Identify opportunities for process control improvements by developing a comprehensive understanding of existing processes.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and implement manufacturing process solutions.
- Develop key performance indicators, monitor process parameters, and track overall process performance.
- Utilize Six Sigma techniques to improve process efficiency and performance.
- Train and facilitate the adoption of new process control technologies within manufacturing units.
- Document process control findings in technical reports.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in PLC programming applied to batch or continuous production process control, data communication, data collection, and display systems.
- Understanding of reliability, documentation, and Management of Change requirements in process control systems.
- Positive attitude and open-minded approach to problem-solving.
- Competency in ladder diagram programming and HMI programming software.
- Demonstrated ability to apply Continuous Improvement Tools.
- Strong initiative to identify and address areas for improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and effectively manage multiple complex projects.
- Training and practical experience in Root Cause Failure Analysis.
